Finom

There goes the neighborhood

Of the many things that are interesting in this world, one that recently through me for a loop was waking up, stretching, walking outside, and seeing that a humongous new building had essentially sprouted up overnight.

I speak, of course, of this cruise ship docked just down the block:

It is very unusual for ships to dock in this location; their normal pier is a few down. Since Feburary, I’ve seen a tall ship docked at this pier, and one or two military ships. However, yesterday there were three (!) cruise ships in port in San Francisco. All those thousands and thousands of passengers combined with all the people we have in town for Oracle OpenWorld made getting around town a real bitch. I’m sure the Fisherman’s Wharf and North Beach shops and restaurants are joyous though, cha-ching!
