Well, it looks like it’s becoming a tradition here at Finom to post pics of my haul from the Alemany Farmers’ Market. Behold this week’s bounty!

The roll call:

  • Eureka lemons
  • Limes
  • Peaches
  • Plums
  • Plutots
  • Valencia oranges
  • Baby tomatoes
  • Early girl tomatoes
  • Strawberries
  • Raspberries
  • Brown button mushrooms, white button mushrooms, and baby shitake mushrooms
  • Mixed peppers
  • Fennel
  • Leeks
  • Scallions
  • Edamame
  • Yukon gold potatoes
  • Watermelon
  • Grapes
  • Dandelion greens
  • Some other kind of green that the vendor told me I could steam or stir fry
  • Eggplant
  • Smoked salmon spread
  • Plus lunch at our favorite street food vendor’s truck: Hibiscus agua frescas, a squash blossom quesadilla with hot sauce, and a “Mexico City Style” gordita

I do love the Alemany market!

Koszi Zsolt! One of the nice things about San Francisco is that we have a lot of fruits and vegetables grown here year round. But, the warmest part of the year doesn’t start until late August/early September, and only lasts through October. The rest of the time it is mild, but never really hot. Basically we have two seasons: spring, and rain, with a few weeks of “summer” in between.

Gorgeous! And wow, that pepper really is huge! (Unless everything else is merely miniature…)

Well, the watermelon was pretty small for a watermelon. :-)
